Eclipse is a cold-saponified shampoo. In other words, it's made using the same cold saponification process as soap. So it lathers!
Unlike solid shampoos, it contains no surfactants. Surfactants are foaming and cleansing agents. They are also harmful to the planet and dangerous for the humans who handle them when they are created. They are generally not biodegradable and can be irritating to the scalp. Finally, they are prohibited in the Nature & Progrès cosmetics specifications.
Eclipse contains marshmallow powder, which makes detangling easier and coats the hair. Green clay, which absorbs excess sebum. Coconut oil, which adds lather and strengthens. Castor oil, fortifying. A synergy of essential oils of rosemary, which revitalises, strengthens and helps combat dandruff, ylang-ylang, which tones, and lavender, which cleanses the scalp.
Like all the products in the range, Éclipse is certified Nature & Progrès.
Some advice on use:
- It may take some time to adjust (from 3 weeks to 1 month), especially if you switch from a liquid shampoo to a cold-saponified shampoo.
- Proper drying is necessary to prolong the life of your shampoo. Use a soap dish that allows water to drain away.
-Careful rinsing is essential to avoid residues. You could, for example, rinse with your head forward.
- Magic cider vinegar: my final tip would be to rinse with cider vinegar. It's a fantastic ingredient for hair that adds shine and makes detangling much easier. To do this, dissolve 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar in 1 litre of warm/hot water. Use this mixture as a final rinse. Don't worry, the vinegar smell won't stay on your hair at all once it's dry!
