The mastic tree is a shrub found in the arid regions of the Mediterranean basin. The gum extracted from its trunk is chewed in many countries and added to flavour certain sweet dishes.
The twigs are harvested from wild specimens in Morocco.
It is recognised, amongst other things, for its effectiveness in treating circulatory disorders, but is also very soothing when diffused.
